The Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry has been awarded the TOTAL E-QUALITY award for the fourth time in a row. For the first time this year the award was given with the add-on 'diversity'. The jury justified the award with the institute’s commitment for equality and diversity. The compatibility of work and family as well as actions against sexualised discrimination, harassment and violence were particularly emphasised.

The Institute's Equal Opportunities and Diversity Circle was praised in the jury's statement for its engagement to promote young researchers and for its service agreement on teleworking. The jury recommends consolidating and expanding the existing projects. The award is valid until 2021.

Since 1996, the association TOTAL E-QUALITY e.V. has been striving to promote the potential of both genders. An important instrument for the implementation of these goals is the transparency of the applicants. The Institute's Equal Opportunities and Diversity Circle, headed by Kerstin Balkenhohl, can be proud of the successful application. In 2019, 24 applicants from the scientific field received the Award.
