The independent junior research group Receptor Biochemistry is dedicated to understanding plant–pathogen interactions. Our research addresses fundamental questions, such as: How does the plant immune system function? And how do fungal pathogens cause disease?
We focus on the roles of extracellular proteases—both plant and pathogen derived—and are particularly interested in their interactions with plant immune receptors.
Building on the insights we gain, we develop innovative strategies for crop protection, including the engineering of plant immune proteases and the design of novel fungicides.
