On April 1, 2018, Junior Professor Martin Weissenborn of the IPB took over the chairmanship of the Halle (Saale) Chapter of the GDCh (German Chemical Society). In November 2016, Weissenborn has been jointly appointed junior professor by the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the IPB, where he heads the independent junior research group Bioorganic Chemistry. His research focuses on biocatalysis and the establishment of new, non-natural but very useful enzyme reactions. Weissenborn succeeds former chair of the GDCh Chapter Prof. Dariush Hinderberger, from the Chair of Physical Chemistry, University of Halle. The Halle GDCh Chapter regularly organizes colloquia, that are open for all interested parties. The current colloquium dates can be found here.
