PD Dr. Goran Kaluđerović recently accepted a professorship at Merseburg University of Applied Sciences. On occasion of his departure from the IPB, a small farewell colloquium was recently held. After a lecture by Professor Evamarie Hey-Hawkins from the University of Leipzig, Kaluđerović himself reviewed the stages of his career so far: Originally from Montenegro, Kaluđerović went to Serbia to study chemistry at the University of Belgrade, where he also obtained his doctorate. As an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow, he joined the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in 2006 and - after various stations including the University of Leipzig - the IPB in 2012. Since 2015, Kaluđerović has been leading the project group "Anticancer Drugs and Targeting" at the Department of Bioorganic Chemistry and acted as coordinator of the Leibniz Research Alliance "Bioactive Compounds and Biotechnology". With his research on chemical compounds that exhibit antitumor effects in combination with nanomaterials, he made important contributions to drug discovery. For his new responsibilities as Professor of Inorganic and Environmental Chemistry at the University of Applied Sciences Merseburg, we wish Dr. Kaluđerović success and all the best.
