Lehmanniaside, a new cycloartane triterpene glycoside from Astragalus lehmannianus.
IPB chemists and partners from Uzbekistan have discovered a new cycloartane triterpene glycoside. The compound lehmanniaside was isolated from the aerial parts of Astragalus lehmannianus Bunge, a species of tragacanth from Uzbekistan. Using mass and NMR spectroscopy, the Halle scientists were able to elucidate the structure of the glycoside. Lehmanniaside exhibits weak anthelmintic, antifungal and cytotoxic activities, as first bioassays showed.
