At the end of 2024, the NMR lab at the IPB was upgraded with the installation of a new Bruker AVANCE NEO spectrometer. This state-of-the-art system features an 16.4T (700MHz) Ascend magnet and helium-cooled cryoprobes (5mm and 1.7mm), marking a significant enhancement in our liquid analysis capabilities within the newly structured Analytical Lab of the MetaCom Program Center.

This advanced 700MHz NMR spectrometer replaces the 15-year-old 600MHz system and offers superior sensitivity and resolution, accelerates experimental processes, and supports triple-resonance experiments. Its enhanced sensitivity facilitates the analysis and structural elucidation of natural products at lower concentrations, enabling the detection of compounds that were previously undetectable.

Looking ahead, these enhancements will support a broader range of research projects and collaborations. They will strengthen the institute’s structure elucidation capabilities, significantly benefiting metabolomics and natural product-based research.
