Exhausted, yet elated: IPB athletes shine in company team triathlon

"IPB Express" was back in action. At the 15th Central German Company Team Triathlon last weekend, the team of Thomas Vogt, Christin Naumann and Leonardo Gonzales Ceballos competed for the IPB. Despite the sunny weather at Lake Hasse near Merseburg, cyclist Thomas Vogt (department SZB) in particular had to battle the rather strong winds as he completed his 30 km-course. Christin Naumann (department MSV) was in charge of the swimming part (700 m). "I first took part 10 years ago - also back then together with Thomas," she recalls. The two are the most experienced team triathletes at IPB, with Thomas Vogt always providing the impetus and recruiting fellow competitors for the sporting event from the IPB ranks. This time they were joined by Leonardo Gonzales Ceballos from the NWC department as a runner - he raced two laps around Lake Hasse (6.6. km in total). So with "IPB-Express" the three of them had put together a true inter-departmental collaboration. In the end, with a total time of 1:48:31, they took 5th place out of 17 teams in the Mixed 120+ category, and in the overall standings they finished 36th out of 85. A result that is quite respectable in the face of strong competitors, some of which were much more experienced racers. "We were all exhausted, but very happy!" Thomas Vogt sums up the race. Their dream is to be represented by two IPB teams in the future. Maybe some more people will get inspired to join. We congratulate "IPB Express" on their sporting success!
