Congratulations to Dr. Carolin Delker!

Dr. Carolin Delker, postdoctoral researcher of the research group Auxin Signaling (department Molecular Signal Processing) has every reason to be happy! Since last week, she belongs to those promising candidates who will participate in the Leibniz Mentoring Progamme for one year, starting on 1st November 2013. This is a great success for which we would like to congratulate her!

The Leibniz Mentoring is an initiative of the Leibniz Association to increase the number of women in scientific leading positions. In 2011 and 2012, the Programme was tested for the first time as pilot project in the Leibniz Institutes of Berlin Brandenburg. In 2013, it was expanded nationwide. The Programme addresses postdoctoral scientists with outstanding research achievements, who aspire a professorship or a leading position in research administration.

The core of the Programme is a one-to-one partnership between the candidates (mentees) and a mentor (senior academic). The aim of this relationship is to support the professional development towards leadership and to navigate ways into a scientific career. Numerous seminars accompany the Programme that should impart the key competences for executives, especially in science.

During the 12 months maturity of the Programme, Caroline Delker together with her mentor will take this competence training. Aside from scientific topics, the contents of the seminars also include for example career management, lecturing, human resources management, acquiring third-party funding and teaching theory. Her participation in the Mentoring Programme will be honored by a certificate of the Leibniz Association at the end.

We all wish Carolin Delker much pleasure and a maximum of learning by passing through the Programme!
