The IPB team was small, but all the more eager to run: Christin Naumann, Melanie Rasch, Yunjing Ma and Kathrin Kowarschik ran almost 300 kilometers at the first Running Challenge in Saxony-Anhalt. Thus our powerladies reached the 55th place in the overall ranking of a total of 80 participating teams. Congratulations! The competition was launched this year for the first time under the patronage of Saxony-Anhalt's Minister for Economics, Science and Digitalization, Professor Armin Willingmann. Its corona-conform format attracted almost 700 participants, who covered around 171,000 kilometers between April 1 and June 15 with a total of 25,000 individual activities.
Anyone who wanted to run or hike could participate. People mostly ran alone or in small groups, which could set off individually at any time and complete routes of their choice, thus collecting kilometers. All activities were recorded individually with various fitness apps and uploaded to a competition platform via screenshot. Of course, there were plenty of individual and team rankings and extensive social media coverage of the entire event. As a successful hybrid event and, for the time being, planned alternative to the annual company run, which may nevertheless take place this year thanks to low incidences, this charming form of running competition will certainly be repeated.
