This year, from June 14-17, IPB PhD students hosted the Plant Science Student Conference as an online event. With about 100 registrations, the online conference was well booked, although only about 50 participants at a time followed the lectures and presented their own research. The majority of participants came, as usual, from IPB Halle and IPK Gatersleben, the two institutes that have taken turns organizing the meeting since 2005. But also PhD students from MLU Halle, CEPLAS Düsseldorf/Cologne, MPI Potsdam-Golm and other plant research institutes attended. The sessions were held in virtual conference rooms where participants also had the opportunity to get in contact via video chat. The scientific program with lectures by ten renowned keynote speakers was interspersed with workshops on methods and scientific publishing, and on related fields such as conflict management and starting a business. After the PSSC 2020 had to be canceled due to the pandemic and was also organized in an online format by IPK PhD students in 2021, the organization team of this year's conference is convinced that next summer, there should be a PSSC in person again.
