IPB chemist advises Colombian government on scientific issues

Prof. Ludger Wessjohann will advise the Colombian government on scientific issues.

Due to his outstanding expertise in the field of plant biochemistry and his great experience in Latin American science policy, Prof. Ludger Wessjohann has been appointed to the Colombian Committee of Wise Men on Science, Technology and Innovation. In his function as advisor for the Colombian government and in close contact with the local universities, he will make recommendations on strategic development of the research areas biotechnology, environment and bioeconomy. Vice President Marta Lucía Ramírez has personally invited Colombian and international expert circles into the Committee of Wise Men (Misión de Sabios). Over the next 25 years, she intends to build a knowledge-based economy that will allow more and more Colombians to participate in education and science. Mr. Wessjohann accepted this honourable task with pride and joy. The President of the Leibniz Association, Matthias Kleiner, was one of the first congratulators.
