Family support – A top priority at the IPB

The institute is highly committed to helping its staff members to reconcile work and family life. To this end, we have developed a large variety of options in recent years, including:

  • Possibilities to organize working time flexibly and family-friendly
  • Flexitime arrangements
  • Part-time jobs
  • Individual distribution of weekly working hours
  • Home offices
  • Family-friendly arrangement of seminars and similar
  • Individual parental leave agreements
  • Training opportunities, also during parental leave
  • Compassionate leave and leave of absence from work schemes
  • Payment of childcare allowance
  • Help in finding daycare
  • Special habitable room for parents and children at the institute

Since 2010, the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry has been continually awarded the Total E-Quality Seal - currently for the fourth time until 2021.

Quotation: „The IPB's long-standing commitment to equality and diversity has created solid structures, accompanied by a number of tailor-made actions. [...] With the Equal Opportunities Circle, its great commitment to young scientists and the new service agreement on teleworking, the Institute is taking a good path here.“

Room for Parents and Children

Since the 1st of August 2013, the IPB has a special habitable room for parents and children. It is located upstairs at the IPB library and offers a quiet place for all IPB members, their relatives as well as guest and their children.

The room is equipped with a desk, PC and printer as well as a little playground and therefore provides the opportunity to balance work and childcare temporarily. The room is accessible at all times and can also be used outside of regular working hours.
