PhD Students

The Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry Halle (IPB) is continually offering the opportunity of preparing doctoral theses on ambitious research topics. At any time, the institute employs about 50 to 60 PhD students, funded through external scholarships, raised third-party funds or institute funds. Many of these PhD students come from abroad. The interests of PhD students are represented by their elected student representatives in the Scientific Institute Council (WIR).
The excellent IPB infrastructure, its state-of-the-art technology platforms in combination with interactive, academic research environment provide an outstanding setting for a structured and successful dissertation progress. All PhD candidates at the institute are organised in an IPB-specific guidance program which, besides competent tutoring, provides a large variety of opportunities to PhD candidates to train and extend their knowledge and capabilities in order to live up to the challenges of a complex international labour market as prospective young scientists.
